Karan Gangani

Karan Gangani was born in Delhi into a family with roots in the Jaipur style of Kathak. He began his dance training under the tutelage of Pandit Rajendra Kumar Gangani ji and subsequently trained at the Kathak Kendra (the National Institute of Kathak Dance) where he completed his Diploma (Hons). He was the recipient of a scholarship from Sahitya Kala Parishad and a national scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. He is also a graded artist from Doordarshan Kendra, Delhi.

From 2010 to 2016, Karan Gangani worked with the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company – The Drishtikon Dance Foundation. He has performed both in India and in countries like China, Israel, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, among others. He has performed in many renowned festivals in India such as the Kathak Yatra Festival of Kathak Dance (Udaipur), Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas (New Delhi) and Ravindra Manch (Chandigarh). He has also performed abroad in productions like Within at the Esplande Theatres on the Bay, Singapore during Kala Utsavam, Timeless at La Bastille Opera House, France during Le Monde Festival and Within at Queen Elizabeth Hall, UK during the Alchemy Festival. He has conducted a series of workshops in India organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad and also in countries like the UK and Romania.

Karan Gangani was appointed as a teacher cum performer by ICCR at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, Mauritius from 2016 to 2020. During his tenure, he trained over 250 students annually and prepared his students for performances at the institutional, regional and national levels.  Upon his return to India in 2021 he presented a solo performance, Haaziri, in the loving memory of Guru Pt Kundan Lal Gangani ji at Kathak Kendra (New Delhi), a duet production Anant at Neemrana Fort Palace and a duet performance in Lucknow for Rasrang in Pandit Bindadeen Maharaj Samriti Utsav.
